Scotland - The Central Highlands

This huge area in the centre of Scotland is dominated by two great mountain ranges; the rugged and romantic Trossachs and the Grampians with their gorgeous glens and lochs. The East coast, with wild and rugged cliffs, sheltered coves and beaches stretches from the Moray Firth down to the Firth of Tay. Inland are the winter sports centres of Aviemore and Glenshee.

The main towns of this region are Stirling and Perth in the centre and Aberdeen, a busy seaside town on the East coast.

To the North, the Great Glen leads you from Inverness westwards to Fort William, Glen Coe and Britain's highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Down the west coast the long mulls and deep sheltered sea lochs and natural harbours attract yachtsmen from all over Europe, with Oban the popular and busy centre. Off shore are hundreds of islands including Mull, Tiree, Eigg, Islay and the Holy Isle of Iona.
