Ireland
A country of spectacular scenery, from the rugged
cliffs and sandy beaches of Donegal, to the gentle hills of Clare. With a
distinct cultural tradition, the people will captivate you with their
friendliness, courtesy and wit.'Céad Míle Fáilte', 'A
hundred thousand welcomes', is not a meaningless greeting in this hospitable
country.
Go to the Western Counties of Cork and Kerry, Clare and Sligo, Galway, Mayo and
Donegal, for the magnificent scenery of impressive mountains and coastlines. In
the far North West lies Donegal, best known for its legends of witches and
fairies, its wild mountains, white beaches and rocky shoreland. An area famous
for its music and where Irish is still widely spoken.
To the south lies Connemara, its silence and beauty so beloved by writers and
artists, and County Kerry, a gently, magical place of great splendour and
charm. Travel east along the southern coast and visit Ireland's second city of
Cork, a busy port of canals and bridges. Continuing north east, stop by
Waterford, famous for its crystal and the Opera festival town of Wexford. No
visit to lreland would be complete without exploring Dublin, a great city of
parks and museums, warm good natured people, and home of the renowned Guinness
beer. Dublin is justifiably proud of its great writers; Shaw and Joyce, Wilde
and Yeats, Swift and Behan, the list is long. These and many more are
immortalised throughout 'The Emerald Isle'.
