A village guest house in the heart of Exmoor National Park. Escape to Exmoor House and enjoy a totally relaxing break, and some excellent food.
Exmoor House is perfect if you want to get away from it all for a few days. You can enjoy our wonderful food, which is all home-made using lovely local ingredients (dinner bed & breakfast packages are great value). We are very happy to cater for particular dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, low fat). Relax in our guest sitting room, which has cosy log fires in winter, or outside on the terrace. Something that makes Exmoor House a bit different - and most people love this - is that there are no TVs in any of the guest rooms. In the guest sitting room there's a selection of games to play, as well as books, magazines and maps of the local area. There is also an honesty bar, with a good choice of local beers, Somerset ciders and lots more, and we've a nice wine list.
Bedrooms have been designed for maximum comfort - but minimum frilliness and fussiness - so no chintz, but helpful little touches like a good choice of hot drinks, and real milk rather than the kind that comes in little plastic packs. All the rooms are of course ensuite; some have a bath and others a shower. The double beds are either superking- or kingsize.
There is lots to do on Exmoor. It's a paradise for walkers and cyclists, but if you don't want to be that active there are historic houses, interesting gardens and pretty villages to visit. There is also an incredible range of scenery, from beaches and cliffs to rolling hills, forest and open moorland.
We have good facilities for walkers, cyclists and bikers, including a drying room (and somewhere to hose your bike down if you get really muddy!) and lots of useful information to help you plan your days out.
At Exmoor House we try to be as green as possible. In fact we were the first accommodation on Exmoor to gain the Green Tourism gold award (you can see more information about this, and our environmental statement, on our website).
